Do you have thoughts like these ?
Everyone else seems to have it figured out.
I constantly compare myself to others.
I’m not good enough.
My head won’t switch off.
I feel alone, even when I’m not.
I’m tired of pretending I’m fine.
Then you’re in the right place.
I’m trained for the hardest conversations, so you can say whatever you don’t dare say elsewhere. I won’t panic and I won’t lecture you.

What I can help with
Feeling like you don’t fit in
Pressure from exams, work, money or a relationship ending
Something that happened to you that you’ve never said out loud
Thoughts of not wanting to be here
What the first call is like
It’s a short, free chat with no commitment. You can ask me anything, including whether I’m the right person for you. You don’t have to explain everything. Some people say a lot and some say very little, and either is fine. If you’ve had thoughts of not wanting to be here, you can say that too.
Who you will be talking to
I’m Barry, a counsellor with an MSc in Counselling. I volunteer with the Samaritans and at a sexual abuse charity, and I’m trained in suicide intervention.
I’ve never lost my interest in what it’s like to be your age: the pressure, the comparing, the sense that everyone else has it sorted. I’m curious about it, not an expert on it. I won’t tell you what to do or rush to solve things. I’ll listen, ask questions, and stay with whatever you bring, however heavy.
Say hello
Message me on WhatsApp or email and I’ll reply to arrange a first call.
You don’t have to explain everything.
If you’re in immediate danger, call 999 or Samaritans on 116 123. Oak House Therapy isn’t a crisis service, but you’re welcome to get in touch before you reach that point.
